Asian Para Games Becomes Momentum of Jakarta Towards Disability Friendly

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Sandiaga Uno stated, the 2018 Asian Para Games is an important step towards realizing a disability-friendly city. Moreover, 4,000 athletes and officials from countries in Asia would enliven the event.

"Let's make the Asian Para Games implementation as a momentum of disability-friendly city," he expressed, during Education and Socialization of Indonesia oj 2018 Asian Para Games at City Hall, Thursday (12/28).

He also asks regional working unit (SKPD) to assist and support the 2018 Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) in conducting various preparations of accommodation facilities, transportation, venues up to recreatinal sites in order to be disability friendly.

"Road map must be prepared and the existing facility must be audited. Do not let anything missed," he stressed.

Additionally, all parties should aslo be involved in the event, as Jakarta was chosen as a host.

"All elements must be involved. Use this momentum and we make Jakarta as a disability-friendly city," he told.

He also wants the event to be propagated from RT, RW, urban village, sub-district, city until provincial.

"This is a new piece so we can be more friendly to the disabled," he uttered. 

As for the information, the event itself will be held on October 6-13, 2018. 43 countries will participate in the event.

There are at least 18 venues prepared and most are centered at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (SUGBK).
